  1. Suck it in. For 20 years the Eagles have had to put up with dodgy umpires when ever they play in Melbourne.

  2. ok im usually not one to complain about the umpires however i was upset by the free kick paid to Jonathon brown in a crucial part of the game. the free was against Nathan brown who in my opinion did nothing wrong. this free ended in a goal. now what really annoys me is that it seems that collingwood forwards can be held and pushed and no free is payed.

One player who i thought never got any deserved free kicks was taz when he played for the pies. he was held, arms were held so he couldn't mark and he was pushed. defenders were constantly doing it and the umpires never cared.

This is just my opinion other supporters might think im a whinge and im blaming the umps but if this was your team then i can assure you that you would think differently about this.

another reason why people are complaining is because sometimes a free kick is paid then 5 min later the same thing happens and no free kick. i know it's hard for the umps but they have to be more consisted. i know its easy for me to say but hey thats what i think.

  3. Depends on who is gettin the free if it a good player like brown they get it easier than some one not as big of a name like Nick Gill from crows have to get smashed.

It also depends on the umpires

  4. I officiated high school basketball here in Kansas for 6 years. You are right only 50 percent of the time. Correct for team A, wrong for team B.

AFL umpire had it right, you have one angle, just a split second and you cannot turn pages in a rule book.

It is an educated opinion and if you don't like it, grab a whistle and try it yourself.

Referring basketball is one of the things I miss since I had multiple fractures of my right leg in 1990.

Back in the 80's and 90's you could pay a free for or against Plugger and Gaz Sr on every kick into their forward 50. It was a wrestling match in front of the goal square all day or all night when Lockett and Ablett faced Silvagni, Martyn, Frawley, et al. back in the day.

  5. i agree!!! the umpires lost collingwood the game

    ARRGGHHH so annoying!!!

  6. Coz umpires are only human and you can't please everyone all the time.

  7. Paid umpires that are amateurs, not pros! And I agree, JBr is good at milking the soft frees. But no use complaining about the softies, just punish them on the scoreboard. And lets have pro umps - ones that can be touched!!!

  8. I agree the umpires favour certain players and will give out soft frees depending on who it is and which team..

  9. Forward get soft free kicks every week

Umpires cop the most flack from the crowd when the ball is near the goals and the most scrutiny from commentators as well.

Forwards carry on like pork chops when they dont get a free when they think they "earnt it" where the backman will continue to try and win the ball no matter what happens

Most of the rule changes in the last few years have made footy heaps easier for forwards and near impossible for a defender.

Umpires take the easy option and give frees to forwards that most around the ground wont get, this is poor umpiring and very obvious week in week out and nothing gets done about it

  10. Some play for collingwood. Even umps hate collingwood! : )

  11. i think the umps look after a few players

  12. The only team get a bad run with free kicks is the mighty Dee's, it's a conspiracy I tells ya the AFL are out to locate us to West Sydney, fellow supporters of the red and blue unite, stand up, and give Andrew a big raspberry, lol.

  13. for f*ck sake, STOP BLAMING THE UMPIRES FOR EVERYTHING!

c'mon, how many of you guys have played footy? how many times have you, or you opponent try to milk a free kick? How many times have the umpires awarded it?

the answer will always be many.

Think of it this way. We have..........0.5 of a second to see the inncident, go through the rule book in our head and by that time we should have given it and moved on while spectators and commentators look at the incident over and over from different angles in slow motion for half an hour!

we only have half a second and only one angle. We dont have TV screens on our wrists and different camera angles going over the inncident in slow motion, unless you guys want a video umpire...which slows the game down.

for anyone who just blames it the ump in here (which a few of you are) then get off your lazy a*se, get your ruuners on, join your local umpiring association and then umpire a few games!

we get the calls right 8 to 9 times out of 10 but its that odd one where we get the flack from the crowd, players and coaches.....and dont get me started with those f*cking commentators!!

this was against anyone who is 100% against the umpires....

Now X Man, I wasnt ranting at you, it was at all the pr*cks who thinkn  that umpring is done from a chair. Now your point  with Browny, he has probably like most players been milking free kicks since he was 10...they all do it at some point.....the umpires cant stop that, no one can except for the players. We have to call it from how we see it and sometimes its just the angle which looks like its in the back when in reality he just took a dive...again, TV cameras show that, not split second decisions! It goes your way sometmes and against you at other times...it ballances out in the end.

  14. coz brisbane are **** and play like little girls but when collingwood play, the umpiress get less strick on bumps coz were are the strongest teeamm ooh yeaah were too good lolllll oh yeah and sometimes it depends wereee they get hit and what umpire it is like if its in the back bump FREE KICK lol
