  1. All I know is if God exists he doesn't have a "category."

  2. There is no direct answer to this.  Sociologically, in order to become a religion a cult must undergo "routinization of charisma"; in essence, the initial leader must have a successor.  If this does not happen, it stays a cult and perishes.

As for larger ones, like the fading out of Hellenistic beliefs, or Coptic gods, we can look at the histories.  We have Judaism furiously struggling through Mesopotamian pantheons and Egypt's, and then Greek Hellenistic ideals swinging into the area with everyone's favourite Macedonian - effectively crushing those religions.  Then the sudden growth of Christianity annihilated the Roman pantheon (Latinized Hellenism).  The spread of Christianity stifled many smaller religions throughout Europe, and the Norse pantheon.  Later it would consume next to everything west of Israel that had more than a few scant clans following it.  The influence of Islam in the east and North Africa, Hindu beyond that, and the steady northern march of Buddhism would stomp out the plethora of Asian religions.  They still all exist, mainly, but suffering greatly under the weight of the largest religions:  Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Hindu, and Shinto.

  3. No the main reason is that people don't study and understand what they are getting into..OR..they just want the religion on their own terms and condition without sacrificing comfort, belief or anything. Most of the time it is the leader taking advantage of others ignorance in the subject. Many times people are afraid about people / community / and their family in case they change the religion. One should study and do some homework on religions before accepting. e.g Islam which is portrayed as different religion is ACTUALY "Abraheemic" continuation of religion..with same GOD as was for Abraham/Moses/Jesus and Muhammad. The three religion are just the same thing, but unfortunately portrayed differently, because of Leaders and Politicians etc.to divide, rule and create sects.

  4. love is the only relegion u should following

  5. What do you mean by "fail"? Some religions fall off the cultural radar because not enough people practice it, which can be for various reasons.
