to much salt in their food? I went to Texas Roadhouse in rosenberg, Tx last night and food was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. I sent it back and the next plate they brought out was even saltier than the first. I still couldn't even eat it. I complained to the manager but he wouldn't do anything about it. This is one person that won't be going back.

Why do they use so much salt?

  1. I have eat at the Texas Roadhouse in Tyler and Longview and they were both terrible. Not only too much salt but they put saute'd mushrooms on everything and I dislike mushrooms alot. I havent eaten at one since.  BTW thats a nice looking avatar you have. That sucks about them not doing anything to your bill, what a joke they are!

  2. I have a couple of theories.  :-)

#1 -  the saltier the food the more you drink???

#2 - salt tastes good. So...while restaurants probably use more than the average "home cook" it's probably not so bad if you only eat out every once in a while.  However, there is such a thing as way too salty and that's just gross.

I've ate at Texas Roadhouse before and it was pretty good.  Maybe it was just the cooks??

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

  3. Listen to Kieth, I was raised in Texas and the only thing a Texan understands about food is how it taste floating in salt and grease. I became a chef so I could learn to eat real food before I died of Texas food poisoning. I tell everybody I meet that ranch dressing is the Texas state beverage.

  4. Salt is what people taste the most and to add any flavor, they add a lot of salt.  I've been a cross country truck driver and I've noticed at some of the restaurants, they do really salt their food and it's difficult to eat.  We would only stop a certain ones and not others for this reason.  You would think a truck stop would strive to have great food to keep the business coming in, or maybe more people like salt than you and I can imagine.  There's a flying J truckstop in my little town that does a pretty good job.  We'll eat there because we get points for money of fuel.  Their gas prices are reasonable compared to others around and this month I'm getting a 15cents per gallon discount.  But this flying J has decent food, not horribly salty at all.

  5. To get you to refil your drinks a million times, and pay for each refil.

  6. dont expect fine dining in a texas road house

  7. I don't know much about restaurants in Texas, but where I live hardly any of the restaurants use a lot of salt or MSG  or any spices, unless it's a Mexican or Italian restaurant then you expect spicy food.

They could of at least made an adjustment on your bill. I wouldn't go back either. Have a good day! :~)
