  1. Because they're not actually vegetarian.

Fish is meat. You can't eat it and still be vegetarian.

  2. Vegetarians who eat fish are called pescatarians.  I am a vegan and to me eating fish is the same as eating meat.

  3. A lot of you are being unfair and generalizing.  You assume that those who eat meat (fish and chicken) are weak and/or not willing to put forth the effort to become completely vegetarian.

I eat fish and chicken.  I do so, because I want to...and I have absolutely no desire to become vegan or vegetarian.  I also do not categorize myself...I simply do not eat beef or pork...period.

  4. I don't know I think they think that because they don't get the protein of meats they need to get some off fish?!  maybe!  but im veggie and I don't eat either

  5. It's very simple: vegetarians don't eat animals.  Fish are animals, therefore NO vegetarian eats fish.  Period.  The end.

Now, there are some people who eat fish and *call* themselves vegetarians, but they are either mistaken or lying.

The Vegetarian Society coined the word and defined it.  They say the one thing that has never, ever changed in the 160-odd years since the term was coined is that vegetarians don't eat animals.

  6. yes, it is considered meat because the animal died, and vegetarians do not eat fish. the people you are talking about either don't know the meaning of 'vegetarian', or are pescetarians, meaning they eat fish but not mammal or poultry meat.

  7. They eat fish because that is what they are comfortable eating.  You would thaink the the Veges would applaud them for trying instead of always ragging them for their choices.

  8. Vegetarians don't eat fish and if they say they're a vegetarian and eat fish they're lying or don't know what they're talking about. They would be pescetarians. Pescetarians are not vegetarians.

  9. "Vegetarians" who eat fish are called pescaterians. A lot of people (including me...) don't really think of them as vegetarians. It just makes them seem week and don't want to put the effort into it (unless they r on their way to becoming vegetarians and haven't given up fish yet)

  10. No vegetarian eats fish.

  11. maybe its tofu

  12. They don't, you are mistaken.

If someone eats fish, they are not a vegetarian.

    Vegetarians to not eat animals.

Fish, shrimp and clams are animals.

  13. I don't eat fish, but my friend does. ( We're both vegetarians. ) She says that she still eats fish because that their overly populated. So, I would think that is why. :)

  14. They are not vegetarians.  They are hypocritarians.  Fish is meat and vegetarians don't eat meat.

  15. Real vegetarians don't eat fish. Some people eat fish and insist on calling themselves "vegetarians" but real vegetarians don't eat any kind of animal.

I don't care what somebody else chooses to eat, but I don't understand why they find it necessary to claim they follow the idea of vegetarianism when they clearly don't.
