Why do some *vegetarians* eat fish?

vegetarianism is not eating animals and last i checked fish were animals so why do people that say they're vegetarians eat fish? they are called pescatarians i know that much, but i dont get why eat an animal but dont eat others?

  1. It is a redundant question since there is no such thing as a vegetarian, You digest millions of bacteria that live in your digestive system everyday. Bacteria are animals too, and everything you eat is covered with microscopic organisms no matter how hard you clean it. Then they're the millions of airborne microorganisms that you breath in every time you inhale.

    Well that blows my plans to become a vegetarian, so I decide to avoid eating anything that can feel it. Or so I think, then I discover that plants respond to damage and experience stress and pain, great now I'm gonna starve to death.

    Remember this, when you sink your teeth into a stick of celery, its still alive and not happy about it. Apparently plant cells communicate with each other with complex biochemical signals, it's like a simple nervous system.

    Oh great, Why can't reality fit our preconceived idealized view of the world just once, is that so much to ask?
