Why do some western families just had one kid?

I think just one kid for a family of China. A western guy of my friends,but he is the only kid in his family. I think western family at least had 2 kids. So only 1 kid in western country is normal?

And the friend never buy shirt,he always to have made to order. I think it's strange.

Western guys all do like this?

I come from a family of 6 children. we are all adults now.

My brother and sister only had one child each because they got divorced soon after their baby was born.

I have only one son,32 years old. I had him at age 21.

My husband is a hard working guy but at the time, I think I was the selfish one because I didn't want to be at home all of the time with a bunch of kids. I helped raise my younger siblings and was tired of kids before I even had my own family.

Sort of wish maybe we had one more kid but can't go backwards now.

parents are not dependent on children to take care of them when they grow older because of old age pension, retirement homes. Theres no need for 7 children to work the fields.

People are more career oriented, women work and theres not much time for family.
