Why do some white people think that all black people listen to hip-hop?

Like everyone has said: stereotypes. Just like the assumptions that all Latinos listen to Mariachi, all southerners listen to country, and rich people listen to classical with their nose in the air. It's narrow-minded stupidity jumping to stereotyped conclusions.

Generally people are guilty of stereotyping, Irish are all alchoholics, blacks all into hip hop, dutch people wear clogs, germans rob the deckchairs, japanese cant go anywhere without their cameras....

Some people are stupid naive no brain consumer TV educated stereotypers, whilst other people are thoughtful compassionate caring considerate human beings who care about who the individual is not who the stereotype tells them what they should think of a person.. Its up to you to choose whos opinion you will value and whos opinion you will shrug off because it means nothing.

I dont know...stereotypes???I dont think that way but my friend's mom thinks i listen to only rock when i actually listen to everything....EXCEPT COUNTRY!!!!IT SUX!!!!!!

Wow, someone finally asked this question. Stereotypes, stereotypes, stereotypes! People watch too much TV and apply it to every d**n body. Or some ignorant *** thinks its funny to play the minstrel show in class and confirms their stereotype, I'm black, i don't do that/ play that blah blah blah. UGGGH, when will people stop! I deal with this **** in high school all the time, people say I'm acting white, get a perm blah blah blah!

C'mon, you know the answer--the same reason why some white people think all black women with children are welfare queens, who think that all black people dance well and eat watermelon.

Which is, of course, similar to black people who think all latinos listen to Salsa...

Chilax, its the general stereotype.

For instance me, im a teen and both my parents are from Nigeria. So im not an american black person. I talk'white' dress 'white' and get called 'white' all the time. most of my friends are white and i just chill and play around. I know that if i was stereotyped i would be white so i just flow with the current.

its becuz most hip hop artists are black and in my neighborhood i only see black folks blastin their music(hip hop) in their car

no offense to anyone its just wat iv seen

and i got nothin against hiphop either
