Question:

Why do some women have "dreams" to be in playboy?

I just read about a women who was discharged from the army after appearing in PB. In her article she said it was her dream to be in playboy(what kind of a dream is that?). I honestly can't think of any reasons why a women would freely want to appear in Playboy, knowing that they are just fueling the "women are s*x objects" way of thinking.

Could any women shed some light on this?

  1. They're probably very insecure and think Playboy is the epitome of beauty, so it is some sort of validation of their beauty and worth in society.

  2. I had an ex boyfriend who wanted to take pictures of me and send them to hustler. Didnt happen.

  3. Well, the money sure ain't bad (25,000 smackers just to appear, and another 100,000 if you are chosen Playmate of the Year).

Think about this in the context of all the other ways in which society teaches women to value themselves only as attractive art. Why do girls work at Hooters? Why was Jennicam started? There's lots of upsides to sexiness, including fame, fortune, and the heady sense of power you get from knowing that millions of men want you for themselves.

There is an enormous desire among humans to be loved, and an even greater desire to be desired. It's an ingrained instinct to hope that others find you attractive enough to mate with: Playboy is the ultimate extrapolation of that instinct.

  4. Because many women don't see exploring their sensuality as a bad thing. We are sexual beings...s*x is healthy, and the happiest women are those that report being happy with their s*x lives (whether that be with one man or several).

Many women would argue hiding our bodies does not free us from the "s*x object" thing. It gives men power. Why do you think women have to hide their bodies in the middle east? Men think women have nine parts of desire and men only have one, so to control women they make them cover up.

Deciding what you do with your life based on some shallow ideas of a few little boys (not real men) is the real problem. Real men respect happy women. Whether that be in a Playboy magazine or in a burka.

She might want to be in the magazine for several reasons..the desire to be seen as one of the most beautiful women in the world, or some exhibitionist tendencies. Or the glamour and the parties. She looked AMAZING too! She was in perfect shape, cut, lean...and barking orders at men! How ironic.

BTW she wasn't discharged, she was demoted.

  5. We are beutiful, men love our beuty. Its fun and men are happy. We love it,teehee.

  6. Because they have fallen into society's lie that that's all women are born for: s*x.

  7. At some level most women like to be admired for their looks. It might be in picking an outfit that shows their hips or legs well, a low cut top, or their favorite bikini. How far they go depends on how comfortable they are with their body.

For a woman that is not shy about her body, is it so surprising that she would want the chance to be admired by thousands? Maybe get modeling jobs on top of that?

  8. Because objectifisation is taken too far - there are women that love showing their body off and have men oggling them. So what if they are's*x objects' just because people lookat their bodies - Johnny Dep is too then.

  9. It would be a nightmare for me-can't imagine why anyone would want to pose naked in playboy or playgirl. Makes you wonder what their other dreams are-then again-I really don't want to know.

  10. Actually, I think it's more likely some journalist made it up because it sounded good.

Like a guy I knew who was interviewed by an industry magazine, and the journalist quoted him as saying it was his 'lifelong dream' to be an accountant.

He thought that was a huge joke, because he took up accountancy when his actual dream, to be a pianist, fell through.

But hey, it sounded good for the accountancy magazine, lol.

I would bet it is the same for the quote you read.

    Cheers :-)

  11. Many women want to be in Playboy to get recognition. Some people get their start in Hollywood doing that - Jenny McCarthy, Pam Anderson (or Hepatitis, as I like to call her) are examples.

  12. Im with you.  How can that be someone's ultimate life goal?  Knowing what men do with the magazine..blegh.  I wouldnt want to be the source of ____nevermind.  If women want to feel s**y and be photographed there are plenty of places who will take boudoir photos they can keep for themselves w/o plastering them all over porno mags.
