  1. I am assuming you mean white South Africans.  From what I know, South Africa is in a brain drain and Australia is happy to pick up the people that can bring skills and speak english.

Because they speak nearly the same dialect of English.  Have you ever listened to someone from South Africa?  As an American I find it very hard to distinguish the two.  If I listen to someone from Seether speak in an interview, it sounds the same to me as if I was listening to Angus Young from AC/DC.  Don't mean to sound nationalist or bigoted.  I've got nothing against either culture.  Love both the bands too.  ROCK WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!

  4. because they have a shared culture and history - both were part of the British Empire at one time, speak English and have a similar education system.
