Why do spiders love my basement?

I live in my basement and it has " Some" carpet on teh concrete floor. Yet i still seem to be waking up at night to a strange sensation of spiders crawling on me.. I know.. gross. Why do they love my basement soo much? I keep it clean.. Is it the humidity? I keep my room clean as well

There must be some sort of food there.  Spiders only stay where they can snag a meal...so you must have some other bugs down there as well.  Buy a bug bomb and follow all the instructions...especially the turning off pilot lights and other sources of ignition, light if off and take the whole household out to the beach for the day!!
