Why do sportsmen touch so much?

I was taking notes about different things I see on TV for a project, and one topic was to see where people keep their hands. In films, news, sports, shows and so on.

I noticed that in sports, when not playing the players, especially in European football keep their hands on each other. On the head, chest, neck and so on. Why is that? And why if two men would touch each other so much outside the field they would be very criticised?

I am not anti- g*y or anything, I am anti- hypocrits, who agree with some things on the field, but disagree with the same things outside it.

  1. It's usually called something like male bonding. Sportsmen, hunters and others do it.  Also practically all cultures except American man to man touching, hugging etc. is part of the stuff everday life is made of.

  2. ugh, its a type of sportsmanship i think it goes way back to like ancient rome or something.

but people back then were naked.

  3. You are correct and it is sad.

I do not like competition of any type. Sometimes they act rather stupid for doing that and then again they are praised for it as well by some more stupid peers.
