Why do sunnis delay their prayers?

last year in the holy month of ramadhan my sunni friends asked me to join them for iftar in a restaurant ( which was not located in the best of places) they planned to go straight after college when neither of them had prayed salaat al thuhr and al asr. when i suggested that it would be better if we prayed at my home so that our prayer would not be qadhaa' they said that they will pray all the day's prayers at night as it was not haraam to delay your prayers if you had a reason...?????. i was extremely disappointed with them and decided not to join them. i am not trying to offend my brothers and sisters in islam, but their is a reason why each prayer has a certain name...because each one should be prayed at a certain time. otherwise they'd all be called salaat al layl! what is the 'logical' explanation behind this?

  1. that is the first time i hear of that, believe me it is nonsense. there is no such thing in Islam as a whole.

    Allah says in the Quran:

"So establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and obey the Messenger. that ye may receive mercy."

"It is not haraam to delay your prayers if you had a reason?!!!!"

is what they are doing considered a reason?!!! is eating out with friends a reason for them not to pray. when Muslims were in a war with Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), they prayed.

as Allah explained in the Quran "Surah Al-Nis'a (The Women)":

"When thou (O Messenger. art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment."

You must tell your friends that they are misunderstanding this point in Islam. the word "Sunni" comes from the Sunna which is the things Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) used to do. but what they are doing, is far from what Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) used to do. They should NEVER at any time favor their friend's company over Prayer, as Allah said in the Quran (Surah Al-Ma'un):

"So woe to the worshippers. Who are neglectful of their prayers, Those who (want but) to be seen (of men), But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs."

now i think that now you understand. If people still prayed during war, then, won't they pray before going out with friends??!

  2. dude, i'm sunni and this is the first time i hear of this..

if your friends are  doing something wrong, why do you suppose that all sunni are like them?!!

i had a quick look at your profile.. you have a very bad and WRONG image of sunni people..

it's wrong of you to take a side and "HATE" the other side.

sunni/shia problem is Fitnah that only benefits enemies of Islam.

try looking at sunni from our point of view and try looking at shia from their point of you, but never look at one side from the other side's point of view as it'll be so wrong.

  3. Obviously you know enough to know that what you are saying is generalizing in a way that is wrong.  OBVIOUSLY sunni's don't believe this though some may be uneducated enough to fool themselves into believing so.

Why do you use so many id's and answer your own questions? lol
