  1. because you have to loosen your muscles after a race. cuz if you dont then they will be all tense and then wouldnt be good for your next event.

  2. Well they do it before and after an event.

Before an event is to get their body ready to swim, instead of being all dry and relaxed, and diving straight into ice cold water with your adrenalin going.....

And after you warm down to help slow down your heart rate.... because after an even your heart rate is up, and going from that to a complete stop isnt good for you... it pretty much just helps your body calm down after an event......and even if there isnt a warm down pool..its really important that you atleast walk around the pool a couple of times

  3. well after we swim we really can't breath all that good ( Only if we give it our all) so we use the warm down pool to do just that and slow our heart rate down...cause i know right after i get out after a race my heart rate is threw the roof... also we have lots of latic acid built up and we have to shake that all out so we can be loose for the next race...

  4. It is because they build up lactic acid in their muscles after a race which will make them sore the next day if they don't warm down in the warm-down pool. So, they need to swim easy for awhile to get rid of the lactic acid

  5. To safely bring their heart rates down to resting pace.

If you don't warm down then your muscles will be tight and your heart will take much longer to get to resting pace. Which can be dangerous.

  6. Well after you swim your hardest in a race, your heart rate is VERY high and so you have to warm down. The reason swimmers warm down is because there is a lot of lactic acid that builds up during the race. When you warm down you just do very easy swimming to get rid of the lactic acid and to bring your heart rate down. If you don't get rid of that lactic acid then it can lead to tight muscles or soreness.

  7. Because once you have raced, your muscles are tense so when you swim down it relaxes your muscles, helping not to pull one...
