  1. For a pleasant image to the world, after getting out of the water...

  2. It lowers resistance in the water and is generally less painful when getting into and out of the suits they wear.

  3. to shave off some time... even a hundreth of a second counts in some of these events... but it's not useually required... in fact the girls had won a bet against the guys on my team and the guys had to paint there toenails and shav their legs for the next meet... it was priceless...

  4. To decrease friction between them and the water. That is also why they wear caps and tight suits.

  5. because i guess it has been proven that if you shave off all of your hair on your body, you can get better aero-dynmaics in the water.

okay not aero dynmaics, but it's another word that is similar to that one.

  6. it makes you faster!!!!! well i dont know for sure how much of a difference it makes...but i makes you feel faster and more aero dynamic!

  7. Swimmers shave to be smooth in the water. Body hair creates what swimmers call "drag" meaning it slows you down in the water making it harder to swim fast. Many swimmers will not shave all season until the very last meet and then shave it all off. It feels like you are flying on top of the water! It's the same reason swimmers will wear multiple suits when they train!

  8. its to decrease drag while swimming, they train with the hair then shave it off for a meet
