Why do swimmers open their mouths when putting on goggles?

watching olympics i see swimmers open their mouths kinda like stretching it when putting on their goggles. anyone know why?

I get a WAY better grip when I open my mouth as I put my goggles on. Like Ali said, it helps them fit better into your eye socket. : )

to pull the skin on their cheeks down so when they place their goggles on it gives more grip.

i was wondering the same thing but that makes sense about putting a water between their googles but that doesnt make sense why they put it in there mouth they could just put it in there hand? maybe they have to warm the water in there mouth so it dont fog them up or something
