Why do teen mothers always seem to say "well, at least I didn't get an abortion"?

I have yet to hear that response, but then, I don;t go around trying to make people feel bad for things they can't change.  Perhaps they are trying to defend themselves.

Adoption is not the best option for all.  It is a wonderful thing, but it is incredibly complicated, and can be traumatic for all parties involved.

The best option is what is best for the person carrying the child. It's up to them to decide.

Because they at least took responsibility for what they did. It's quite obvious from your response that your are looking down on those girls giving your child up for adoption is quite admirable but not always the right thing for everyone. If you have the support of your parents or boyfriend or whatever why is it a bad thing to keep your child? Women back in the old days were having children at around the same age and people wouldn't give it a second thought the only reason that makes teen pregnancy bad now is that they often don't get to continue their education that isn't a problem for girls that have family support. It's not your problem what gives you the right to be so outraged?

Makes what ok?  That they went through a pregnancy at a young age?

It may not be an ideal situation, but what those young mothers mean when they say something like that is that they are taking responsibilities for their actions and growing up.

What they're saying is "I saved its life by giving birth."  No, it doesn't sound okay when they say it.  They're still putting a low value on an innocent life and they're having a hard time admitting they should have kept their knees together.  Now they're having to deal with it.

Until you have walked in their shoes then dont judge their situation.  I think your question is pretty judgemental.  They cant win in your eyes - damned if they get pregnant and damned if they have an abortion.
