Why do teenage guys wear boxers/underwear under their swim suits?

i always see guys at the pool with their boxers sticking out underneath their swim suits and i've always wondered why....any ideas?

I wear my boxers underneath my swimtrunks, its because its stops from my p***s flappin around, and most of the time my shorts are to big for me and they falloff, so boxers help keep them up

But it might be that their bathing suits are a light color, and they might show through if wet. Or maybe it's more comfortable, idk.

I'm 13 years old and I have done this once.

It was on a field trip and many kids at my school have gotten pantsed.

That's usually a reason.  Nobody wants to be seen naked with all of there friends either.

another is that they could just be very insecure about there body.

It's probably due to the fact that the water's cold and maybe they don't want their genitals to be outlined once they get in the water and their swim suit clings to them. The boxers stop the visibility of the p***s and testicles. Hope this helps.

ok well i dont wear them but i know why, duh lol, well bathing suits can get really annoying, especially the nets (thats why lotsa ppl cut them out) but boxers/briefs? they wear cuz they think looks kwl/"s**y" lol, and incase someone pants them?lol

well if you see their boxers that means they are saying "want to have s*x" since they are doing that in a public area.

But usually they wear boxers at the pool so they make themselves look "hot" or whatever, guys who wear them boxers are lame,

I wear a speedo under my boardshorts so that it'll dry quickly, and boxers dont dry as fast, so unless they want a wet, saggy butt, then you'll see and know

b/c some bathing suits dont have liners and they chaff when there b/s rub against there skin so when they were boxers its like having a liner....i wear boxer under mine!

ive seen this alot to... i think its becasue they dont want there junk moving around if theres no a built in thing for that so they just wear some boxers underneath and it would make an erection less obvious to most likely. good question

That's gotta be some kind of insecurity thing.  That or they're not wearing bona fide swimming trunks.  Men have the added advantage of having a lining built in to their trunks so that you don't have to wear anything other than that one article.  Personally, if I were that curious I'd just ask.

Most of the time, it's to keep from showing their p***s through their swim suit.

Some guys wear two suits. It helps keep them warmer when the water is cold. But usually, they don't wear boxers.
