My theory:

parents are demanding and want "the best education " for their children, so the schools just follow the parental demands. Schools cannot possibly cover the material parents expect so they send it home.

It's harsh and I feel sorry for my poor kids. They are doing stuff that I did not even learn until I was in graduate school.

It is a shame that kids no longer have time to sit and think.

As a teacher myself, I would think that 10 minutes of homework per grade starting in 1st, and then 1 hour per grade starting in high school.  More if your child is in Honors classes.

i am wondering the same thing.

I'm a teen and i don't have any homework

but sometimes....i have loads!!!

Because teachers don't think we have lives or homework from other classes or work or chores. They think we come home and do homework all day.

Because every teacher thinks they are your only teacher....and they secretly get together and put all of their exams on the same day so you can p**p yourself because you are studying so much you dont even have time to make it to the s*****r.

It is easier to hand out busy work then actually teach kids. Teachers have to teach a certain amount each year and since they don't teach to much during class kids are left with having to do way to much after school.  So basically some kids are teaching themselves. I don't think having some homework, but just as long as it isn't to much per age.
