Question:

Why do teens have unprotected s*x and then complain when they find that the kid is on the way?

I'm 14 and a resident of Melbourne Australia.

I'm not horrible or anything but I seriously get sick of hearing about 16-19 year old girls who practically murder themselves with tantrums and abuse at their parents when they find out they're pregnant. And what really gets me angry is when they result to abortion! If they never wanted to get pregnant, why would they have unprotected s*x? As if there aren't enough warnings all over the place... I know rape is excused, but when it comes to alcohol, I'm not sympathetic. They can control their drinking levels when they're out at parties and nightclubs. And then when they do get pregnant, they either give the kid up for adoption, raise the kid on their own with or without the father or abort a few months into pregnancy.

I know I'll get a lot of answers telling me 'ur 2 yung 2 understnd' and 'its thr choice sum ppl mite wnt a baby its nun of ur bsness.'

I just want opinions :)

  1. this sounds like more of a rant on teen mothers than an actual question. yes, it's sad but it's nothing new

  2. first off.. please dont put anyone over the age of 18 in your category..after the age of 18 it does not matter!!

as for 17 and under..most of them would like the attention of everyone saying oh my god so and so is pregnant.. or they have a little boyfriend that they are trying to lock down.

  3. For the same reason that teenagers have a high rate of dying in car crashes - they think they are immortal and invincible and nothing bad can ever happen.

  4. Too many people say, "It won't happen to me." or "It can't happen the first time." The realize when they get hit with the big reality check.

People do things without thinking. Part of life.

  5. I compeletly understand I am 16 and it makes me mad when

they get mad because they got pregnant because they know what

they are doing any everything and they know the possibility of

becoming pregnant..and it makes me madder than anything when

they have abortion because I mean come on your the one who had

the kid they should atleast have it and give it up for adoption and

let people who cant have kids takes it!!!

  6. do ask me i never know why. i always thougth before i did something. now the acting thing can cause problems for me but i didn't have my first bf until i was 18 or 6 months go of my own choice

  7. I agree I hate teens that say they know what there doing  and then  blame other people for there stupid mistakes and start bitching about it

  8. There could be a few reasons for this, but let me first point out that you're operating on a couple of assumptions.

    1.  That every unplanned pregnancy is a result of not using birth control.  Birth control failure is a LOT more common than people think.

    2. That every young pregnancy is an unplanned pregnancy.  I think there are a fair number of young girls that try to get pregnant.  Some come from bad family situations and desperately want someone to love and someone to love them.  Others feel (mistakenly) that they will be more grown up and independent if they are parents.  I've even been hearing that for some young men, it's considered a mark of manhood, a statement of pride, that they were able to father a child.

Of course, neither one of these situations mean that the young people are ready to be parents.  Even the young girls who want a baby, soon find out that "playing Mom" wears thin after the baby is up all night with colic, the friends stop coming over, the boyfriend leaves, etc.

I think that ignorance plays a small part, but I don't believe that it's the abstainance only education that's at fault.  There is so much accessibl information on birth control that someone can learn about it and acquire it with minimal effort.  That said, I've seen some questions on this forum that make me think that some people slept through health class!

Overall, I think it's a complicated issue without a lot of easy answers.

  9. If you have unprotected s*x , you have no right to complain when the worst happens . You get what you pay for .

  10. They never think it'll happen to them.  They really don't understand that it only takes ONE time.  Too many people see abortion as a form of birth control and that's just crazy.

  11. WHy is this question constantly being asked?  They get pregnant because parents only preach abstinence so therefore teens dont want to ask for birthcontrol or go out and buy condoms for the risk of being seen buying them.  So they do the "pull and pray" method.  Honestly teen pregnancy has been around for ages, it is not anything new, just more open about it now instead of hiding it.

Oh and you cannot be against abortion and judge women who get the procedure done, and then turn around and say "rape is excused."  Being against abortion is being against it completely no matter the situation, rape, incest, stillbirths, etc...
