I see all the time young teens on here begging for ppl to label them. Like emo, goth, prep.

Back in my days that woulda been considered extremely insulting.

Why do you like to be labled when after highschool it doesnt exist?

  1. it sorta gives u a feeling of belonging.  wut the other people said is very true.  im in high school rite now.  i agree that labels can be annoying b/c sometimes ur labeled something u dont want to be labeled but thats wut people think of u.  being labeled sorta puts u in a group of people that r like u, and for some that insecure that could be the way that they make friends.  they find out wut theyre label is and then they go and find other people with the same label.  labels are overrated tho.

  2. LOL

I'm 25. I think I know where theyre coming from tho. I've never been part of such group but I know how it feels to be alone & nowhere to belong. So it's sort of like the smaller kids who have a favorite cartoon & want to be one of the characters. Since the sense of identity was never developed, they feel comfortable with a name they never had. I studed psychology & it seems pretty possible.  I have nothing against kids behaving this way. As long as they don't hurt themselves. There's more than just the body getting hurt. Let's promote healthy minds!

  3. I'm a teenager and i hate being labeled

someone asked me whether i was scene or emo once and i told them i was just me.

i find that being labeled means i have no personal identity.

however i have a friend who enjoys being labeled, because it means that she is associated with the people she admires.

  4. I'm 16, but I don't understand why people need to be labelled :)

It's totally sad when people ask for other people to label them, but generally people are placed into friend groups.

Most teens don't care about being labelled, other's find it insulting. Otherwise it's just because the want to stand out and be something their not

  5. b/cause it makes us feel like we know what group to fit into . like ex. prep. that's my label.

and i am happy to be labeled that because i hang out with the preps and that's the group i fit into.

    its just a teen thingg.

like if you were emo, you sure as heck wouldn't fit into the skater chick/dude group.

and if you were scene, you def wouldnt fit into the nerd group.

so we are demanding to be labled and find out who we will be friends with for the four years.

  6. I guess it's to feel as though they are part of something bigger than just their circle of friends.  It's to feel as though they belong somewhere.  Teens are often in search of they're true identity and thus they want to "belong" somewhere.

  7. I'm 15.

I don't ask people to label me.

But I enjoy when they do.

I like to prove people wrong.

They are just giving me the chance.

  8. im 16 and I never beg for any1 to label me, its annoying and I think only ppl with low self esteem would want to be labled
