Why do teeth have a weird smell when they have caps on them?

I have braces and i have this metal piece that surrounds my tooth that hold the wire in place. I keep up well with my denal hygene i brush twice a day i floss at night and i gargle at night. I even use those crest whitening strips. but where the meatl cap is the tooth smells. Why is that?

  1. You do not want to use crest white strips on your teeth when you have braces, your teeth not covered by the bracket/wire will become whiter than the teeth that are covered, just wait until they are off and have them professionally whitened or use crest white strips then.


  2. you will have a metallic taste not smell. If you have the smell means you are not brushing well enough.

  3. First of all, STOP using the whitening strips! You're teeth will be different colors once your braces come off.

    As for the smell, concentrate on brushing the banded tooth really really well. Normally, yucky smells come from teeth when there is bacteria present. Be sure to brush softly around the gumline and around the top of the band. Keep swishing with the Listerine.
