It's not that we drink to much, it's other people drink too little, lol.  No really, it is the way we socialise.

Maybe that is why Irish people are less likely to take themselves so seriously.

Bad consequences??  Not really......Irish people are able to go to work and function normally AND go out and have a good time.  It's a problem when you can't.  If everyone in Ireland was an alcoholic, there would be No workforce, would there?

Also, after a night out, NOBODY drives, except of course the sober taxi drivers! Drink driving is not a big problem, geez the roads are bad enough in some parts to drive whilst sober!

In sum, the Irish have a good time.  It is great because people of all ages go out and have a good time.

You are generalizing about a culture which makes you seem very narrow minded.   However, in Ireland drinking is a social thing.  It rains a lot there and there is not a lot to do when it is pissing rain so tradition is to go the pub and have a pint or two.  Nothing wrong with it! Over in America you are considered an alcoholic....

They really don't, however if some do, they don't get drunk and drunk driving is not really a problem. Look at the stats between Ireland and other countries.

No....why?? The Irish are some of the nicest people I have EVER met.

Why are a few teetotalers? Because they don't like the taste of alcohol. Just like some Italians, Scottish, Polish, etc.
