Is it a pride thing or what? Serious question by the way - I would like to know why it's a big deal.

  1. with the Welsh I think it's a class thing. Rugby is a middle class sport in England, played mainly in private schools, whereas in Wales it's played by the working class. It's managment vs. shop floor. England also have more resources; a larger player base, more money, better coaches compared to Wales so it's another chance to get on over on the ruling classes.

With Scotland, it's not realy a rugby thing, it goes much further back in history.

  2. I'm french and I can say it's the same way in France.

But I can see last Saturday, that for England it's a great pleasure to beat France too !!!

    So Wales, good played!!

  3. it,s a pride thing the scots and the welsh have .

  4. Because England always go into any game they play thinking they will walk over us and there'sno greater pleasure seeing them getting beat, proud to be scottish

    llongyfarchion cymru

  5. To fit in...

Everyone is beating england at rugby these days.

You cannot fit in with any serious rugby countries unless you beat England

    Plus it's just fun....

  6. Hello Violet

It's not just the Scots and Welsh folks it's the whole world.  I'm sorry for the English as they have brought it all on themselves after winning the World cup.

    Hedgy, "Come on Scotland, FREEDOM!"

  7. Another one leaving Ireland out?

Seriously though folks, we don't like the English, all to do with long passed history.

To give you a rough idea of the feelings:-

I worked for a couple of years in Cardiff, a great place and very cosmopolitan, they get on very well with almost all nationalities.

I am not a rugby fan, in fact when a game was on I couldnt get in a pub, so I joined a casino which was for members only, I dont gamble either but it was the only place I could get in for a few pints!

When Wales ever played against any other country the atmosphere was great, win or lose the Cardiff folk welcomed the opposition with open arms, it was always a different story if the opposition was England.

So its pretty simple really, the English are not loved!

Shame they just lost against Wales   Yipeeeeee  Yipeeeeee!!!

    Hope this helps?

  8. Well  now how can I answer this one?. We still hold the Webb Ellis trophy and we have yet still to lose to Italy or Western Samoa. As for a worthy adversary the welsh and Scottish fall woefully short of that. Now the french on the other hand took a thousand years to subdue, and bye the way an English empire.

  9. Because of how we always used to have wars with the smaller countries.

  10. a large part of it is to do with media bias. The home nations are constantly having non stop "we're english therefore its our right to win" kind of attitude mentality thrown at us on tv, radio and newspapers. Any judgement or score against england is therefore seen as luck or a fluke. The arrogance is sickening.

So when our wonderful wee countries beat england it gives us even more pride.

Also look at the population of each country and work out how many play  a sport, england can choose from a bigger pool of players compared to the other nations.

The biggest problem is Englands empiric attitude. They still have this belief they are above everyone else.

  11. Pride pure & simple.

England have won more games overall than Wales at the moment (slightly), but it`s not over yet.

There is significant history behind the competative nature of our meetings, both on and off the field. But when alls said and done it`s a game. Nothing wrong with being passionate about your sport and your country, after all it`s our National identity. But lets keep the blatent Racism out of it.

No inteligent right thinking person is going loose sleep over a few dim-wits who chuck about the same old sound bites as we seem to be getting here.  I`m lucky to have been to a fair few Wales / England games in my life and have yet to come across anything but good natured p1ss taking from both sides. After the thumping England gave us last year I can honestly say that I never want to hear that Chariot song ever again, my phone never stopped ringing with messages from English mates who seemed to enjoy my misery..... But revenge is a dish best served cold, or at least after the final whistle on saturday.

    Cymru am byth.

  12. Probably got a lot to do with what the English have done to us in the past, do you read the history books.

  13. Its the age old thing of England, being a bully of the little nations i suppose !!!!! but as for rugby, i don't see the name of Scotland or Wales on the Webb Ellis trophy, and as for their performances in the latest 6 nations championship, i don't think we will this year either

  14. What a twisted question..

The English absolutely despise the Welsh too. There is actually more snarling hatred of the welsh, over the boarder - in England - than in Wales - just by the sheer size of the English population.

If you think less than 10 million English people hate the Welsh your living in cloud cookoo land.

Wales has 3 million (the majority of which don't hate the English, on anywhere near the same scale).

Sorry if thats a inconvienient media unfriendly fact - but it's the truth.

  15. As old Max Boyce used to say to rapturous applause, "And Wales Defeated England"  We all like to win against our old adversaries! Come on the Reds!

  16. The English always think of themselves. It's mainly down to the media also being biased in rugby and football when England are concerned.

  17. It's traditional for the English to be shite at sport and to get their arses whooped at every opportunity in any sport.   It's just like that and that's the way it is, but mostly because other countries actually put money into developing athletes and sports stars.   Not surprisingly, other countries do get a perverse sense of enjoyment out of thrashing a team that's born to lose.

PS... Yes I am English before you start...

  18. It is a matter of pride and the fact that the they hate the English.

  19. It has always been this way!

It's just banter at the end of the day!

  20. I am an Englishman born to a Welsh mother and Scottish father,I can tell you for all those(Welsh and Scots) who will tell you that the English are hated by the entire world there are 10 more who have absoluty no problem with the English .However when it comes to sporting occasions the the English tend to look at the bigger picture i.e beating  the Scots was a step toward winning the 6 nations ,losing to the Welsh meant we failed to win the championship.Nothing more than that.whereas the Welsh ,Scots and Irish see it as if they had won a significant victory that should level things up for the Saxon migaration  or Cromwell .We don't get this from the Italians or French as like us English they have moved on

  21. Because the english being the better people!!!!!!!! and therefore are better at everything they just cant' handle it and therefore have to try and beat us at everything!!!!!!!! I live in Scotland and i know for a fact they dont like the english!!! a touch of the green eyed monster me thinks!!!!!!!!!!!
