Why do the Opals Australian Womens basketball team wear tights where other teams wear singlet and shorts?

Why do the Opals Australian Womens basketball team wear tights where other teams where the regular basketball uniform of a singlet and shorts? Does it give them an advantage somehow?

According to the manufacturer/designer, Soft Edges, Aussie teams have worn their "sportsuits" since the Opals wore them in the '94 World Championships.  "Since then, the Opals have won two Olympic medals and then the 2006 World Championships wearing our sportsuits..."  

I guess THEY think it gives them an advantage!

simple answer: viewership increases = more money from sponsors. I love basketball, but as a guy i was never interested in womens basket ball till i bumped into the australian team. I was captivated and watched my first womens basket ball game from start to finish. Other games figured this out a while back. Track & Field, volley ball, tennis etc

No it doesnt give them in advantage in anyway, thats just the uniform they chose for their women to play in,,
