Why do the Politicians keep saying times are hard?

Because they realise that having recently been found with their noses in the trough of the public purse they are going to have to put on hold any (paid for) expensive repairs to their second and third homes for a while, or until the media has it's eyes on another story.

The Politicians haven't a clue. They are living in cuckoo land. They have forgotten what it is to struggle on a low income, that is if 'ever' they had a low income.
