Why do the Republicans have such a modest stage at the RNC?

Compared to the stage at the DNC it looks very modest.

Because the DNC is all about appearance, not substance. Just look at their Presidential nominee.

It is tasteful and distinguished!  The RNC is all about the issues and not all about the d**n smoke and freaking mirrors!

Because the Republicans aren't in the business of enterainment like the Democratic party seems to have gotten into.  They are in the business of politics not pomp and circumstance.   They don't need a roman cathedral to showcase McCain's head, they don't need a bunch of fireworks and headlining bands to distract their voters from the real issues at hand.

Normally the will talk about the facts, because less is more. With a bunch of stuff all around you are not going to listen to the speaker.

Because republicans are conservative.  They don't waste money like the dems are so fond of doing.  That and you don't need a lot of pomp when you actually have beliefs in something other than yourself.  Obama is just a big show.  Hype.
