Question:

Why do the Ruskies keep copying our airplanes?

Are they so desperate for new ideas that they have to turn to their big brother every single time they want to make a new airplane? why don't you come up with your own stuff like all the other twisted superpowers in the world? It started with the mig 15, followed by the concord, the f-15, the b-1 and i'm sure countless others. And this new "T-50" they should face some international copyright violations for ripping off the f-22. Maybe if you stopped treated all your people like s*** they would be more willing to help you with all your little world supremacy farces.

  1. Because they are too chicken to design their own

  2. to the Mig 15 - i remember that US offered a pay for a defecting North korean Mig 15 pilot during the Korean war. Migs 15 were well fielded during the Korean conflict and encountered the obsolete F 80 and ocasionally F84, and the Sabres were yet to come by those days.

Generally this world is run by ONE physics, so the designs with similar inputs HAVE to have similar outputs.

I dont remember seeing any russian plane resembling the F 15, exept of the Mig 25 Foxbat, which is ultimately a different aircraft and may only be confusing to a total smarta** who confuses Russians for the kegs of vodka.

Believe it or not Russians delivered and keep delivering outstanding aircraft designs.

To the obvious Russian copies of western planes : li 2- /dakota/ and the B29 copy by Tupolev, and the RR Nene engine for the Mig 15.

Sorry to spoil your fabricated tale.

  3. The Mig 15 was the results of German aerodynamic data combined with British jet engine technology-just like the F-86 Sabre!

The Tupolev Backfire and Blackjack are bigger, faster, and can carry more armament than any US bomber (the Blackjack is the biggest bomber in the world at over 600,000 lbs compared to the 'puny' B-52 at only 400,000 lbs).

The TU-144 flew BEFORE the Concorde.

The F-15 doesn't have anywhere near the high alpha maneuverability as the Russian Sukhoi 27 and the Mig 29 (only the F-18 comes close) and the newer 'Berkut' is even better!  The F-15 is a typical American design; 'lets put big engines in it, who cares about aerodynamics'.

A plane I know the Russians did copy was the TU-4 (B-29).  They even copied the bullet hole patches because Stalin wanted an 'exact' copy.

But let's face it, the US owes much to many countries around the world for its aeronautical triumphs.  Britain was the early authority on jet propulsion, Germany on transonic aerodynamics and rocketry, Russia on metalurgy, the French on early reliable aircraft design, etc, etc.  Did you know the SR-71 was built entirely out of Titanium covertly bought from the USSR?

And as far as Russians treating their people like ****?  Why don't you go to East LA?  Harlem?  Detroit?  New Orleans?  Some of the poorest neighborhoods in the world's richest country!  That's treating people like ****!

  4. Because they lack the technology , or money to hire thousands of people build test facilities and spend even more on design testing. They tried to buy the B-29 from us during WWII , but we didn't sell it to them. They have the "Bear" bomber , a turbo prop , that's just hilarious. And the T-50 is like a F-22A with thrust nozzles at the back and straighter vertical stabilizers.

  5. What can I say, we make great aircraft.

Note to gtfb: The USAF did NOT copy the Soviets to procure the F-15 Eagle. The Eagle was a product of mutual fear.

Ever hear of the XB-50 Valkyrie? It was a mach 3, delta wing, strategic bomber made, tested, and ultimately canned due to its high cost relative to its capabilities.

The Soviets learned that we had an aircraft that could fly that fast and had range to strike Moskow. Out of fear they developed an aircraft that could intercept it, the Mig 25. Hence thats why the Foxbat is capable of exceeding mach 3 and has such a ridiculously high absolute ceiling. The USAF learned of the Foxbat, but were misinformed of its capabilities. They believed the Foxbat to be an air superiority fighter, one that is highly maneuverable being able to dog fight with any aircraft in the USAF inventory and win. Out of fear McDonald Douglas designed the F-15 to counter the false threat of this air superiority fighter.

  6. They save on research and development.

The know that our engeneering is superior.

  7. An interesting story about how they had 3 B-29's after WW2 and Stalin ordered Tupelov and crew to COPY one... they had a very short time... 3 years I think... and they did such a good job copying the airplane, that even the instruments had ENGLISH markings just like the originals.

  8. it started with the B-29.

  9. sometimes they copy. the MiG-25 was not a copy so you can say that the USAF copied it to make the F-15 the MiG-29 doesn't look the the F-16 or the Ka-50 or the mi-26 are not copes what about the an-225 or the newer an-70 and one other think the Russians are at the  wold's top for thrust vectoring pules the only co-axis helicopter is the ha-50 and the ka-50 has only one pilot so were is the russians copeying form at that one .plus the su-47 has forward swept wing's. O the russians had the first passive electronically scanned array radarn the mig-31.
