Why do the States or Counties allow Lazy people to be on welfare and recieve food stamps?

I hate it that these lazy people out there are living off of the system. They can get jobs but are too lazy to go and get jobs. It's funny because they are the ones that you see dressed in name brand clothing from head to toe, even their kids have name brand clothing from head to toe. They walk around and think they are all that and are too good to be catching the bus, or to use coupons and etc. But yet, they are the MAIN ones that are receiving food stamps and a welfare check.

I hate it because those who really need help are the ones that are working hard and just need some extra monies from time to time, but the State tells us NO, because we supposedly make too much money. Who can help change this law on who really needs help? What are your thoughts on this topic?

  1. It's sad that you're whining and complaining about those whom don't have access to jobs or can't find work--but have to rely on the system to get by (to make ends meet) and yet you accuse them of 'milking' the system when it should INSTEAD be used for those whom are already working and *making* ends meet so that they can milk the system for all its worth?

When did you become cold and uncaring as of late?

Maybe you should instead *complain* about why the rich Republicans of this country are using those 'hard-working' Americans (whom you hold in such HIGH REGARDS) to enrich the livelihoods of the already wealthy and powerful by cutting off access to higher education initiatives, better wages, affordable health care, and affordable housing.

People like myself whom depend on the system to *survive* aren't lazy at all. I'm on the docket because I have incurable diseases and disorders which requires life-saving medications.

Medicines and medical coverage that the GOP has been trying to see cut off for the last 8 years.

The jobs around where I live don't offer affordable healthcare or medical coverage of any kind.

So how do you propose that I pay for my $400 in monthly medications, $10,000+ in monthly visits to my doctors and the emergency rooms for treatment and monitoring--when the average wages for the American working family or worker has been down in the dumps since Bush took office?

When minimum-wage is still stuck in upper $7 to lower $8/hr range--when we should be double that by now?

I'm *sure* you think that I am still being LAZY and milking the system, but without this 'system' holding me up, I would be dead already.

Without my medication, I wouldn't survive past 3 weeks--with my last moments on Earth in extreme pain because my body won't stop clotting from the inside SIMULTANEOUSLY.

You think one DVT is bad, try a whole *bunch* of them hitting you all at once and then breaking off to race towards your heart, your brain, and your lungs--killing you instantly.

Still think that's a fun way to die? The Republicans do.

They don't care about people like me. They--like you--believe that we poor people are a DRAIN on society and should be left to die in the cold--without a safety-net of any kind.

The equally sad thing is, is that people like you are hammering their message of indifference home--trying to make it look like people such as myself are somehow 'holding back' the hard-working American--when all they can focus on is wedge issues like abortion and g*y marriage.

  2. The problem is this: The Democrats need people to be on the system.  These are the same people that will vote for them time and time again.  It is self perpetuating.  That is the reality of the situation.  The government is supposed to be subservient to the people not, vice versa.  Oh yeah, I saw how someone "knocked" you by saying that you too may need help someday.  What a load of p**p!  That person totally missed the point of your letter.  That is what is called a knee jerk reaction.

  3. If a person is not capable of working at a fast food restaurant, would you give them benefits?

  4. I work 2 jobs so I don't have to worry about it. If someone needs help then fine. I get more upset over the tens of billions going to Corporate America, than I do over someone who needs a little help.

  5. Public welfare programs are there as a safety net.  Though it is certainly a better system today compared to 10 years ago, there will always be those who abuse or "work" the system.  Unfortunately, the harder you make it for the "lazy" people in your original question to get assistance, the harder you make it for those who really need it.  The more people you dedicate to tracking down fraud, the fewer people you have to do the "front line" work of meeting with families in need.

There can only be one set of rules.  So, would the system be better if the rules and required verification were so strict that many who need it can't get it in time?  Or, is it better to have a system with flaws that create the possibility for abuse but make it easier for those most in need?

It's a hard and blurred line to walk.

  6. I agree; if someone has a disabling condition, mental or physical, then fine, but no one should get welfare simply because they've decided that the government owes them something, or that they simply don't want to work. If you can work, you should.

  7. You obviously have no understanding of welfare. I would dispute you point by point, but since I have to do that about 10 times a day, it gets tiring. See the section marked 'search for questions".

  8. Because there's no one to check for laziness.

  9. Someday you too may need help, through no fault of your own.
