  1. When you make the sandwich's the the numbers over and over again it becomes habit and then breaking that flow or habit of doing it can become very difficult.  Those people that work fast food know exactly what I mean.

  2. Pick a better sub place, Subway is just not that great.

  3. Either find another Subway, or have them put it on the side.  You could always complain to mgmt if it continues.

  4. I agree with what a few others said. Ask for just one line or 2 or however many you need. I used to work there and they have a specific rule for building the sandwiches. Like the meat can only be put on a certain side of the bread and the cheese must be on the top part with the cheese points a certain way blah blah blah. Everyone is taught to give all sauces in a Z pattern which would make 3 lines. Plus they are making it right in front of you so you have the power to say stop that's enough. And if you still aren't happy then stop going there. I know at the one I worked at we were so busy that we didnt even bother using the light mayo. It wasn't even the employees' fault the managers told us to do it this way. I don't even remember seeing light mayo in our store to even use to fill the bottles. We just filled all the sauce bottles with regular mayo even the ones lables light. So we always had a little chuckle when some tiny girl who wanted a sub with like one piece of meat and no cheese and one piece of lettuce would ask for "light" mayo.

I know that is horrible but the only way to have complete control over your food is to make it yourself. I try not to visit restaurants at all because I don't know what I am going to end up with.

  5. What the first guy said, plus these "artists" are under pressure and severe time constraints. They can't treat your sandwich as though it were a delicate masterpiece, they have to get the food done and out quickly.

    Subway is still "fast food"

I love mayo, I'll take the extra. On my sandwiches they never put enough.

  6. because when the start working there they are pressed on howmuch of everything to put on the sandwich when the customer asks for it

  7. I didnt know subway uses mayo....Gross!!!

I always tell them to put turkey slices and vegies in it.. thats about it (very healthy)

Oh yeah..and some oil and vinegar

  8. Because they probably get bored at work and it's fun to p**s people off every now and then..

    orrrr

They want to make you fat

  9. I make it a rule not to eat where teenagers work. Look around do you see alot of old people there? they usally are a indication if a place is good to eat or not, and to top it off me and my husband got food poisoning there. I was so sick and have had nothing but medical problems since. DONT EAT SUBWAY ITS NOT ALWAYS FRESH

  10. look at the company -- 1/8 inch of meat

look at the employees-- high school kids that wouldn't know how to boil water without a recipe

I mean really-- what did you expect?

  11. Obviously its too hard for them, thats why they cant get a  better job, just like the morons at Mcdonalds that cant EVER seem to put a dang piece of cheese on the sandwhiches when asked!

  12. Because a majority of the US population likes to drown their food in condiments (i.e. ranch dressing, mayo, ketchup). I think they are just used to when people ask for mayo to slather it on all over the place. I also run into this problem when I go into Subway. They do not understand the phrase "light mayo" so I usually have to ask them to stop in the middle of putting it on.

  13. Because they are artists.  Everyone knows you cannot tell an artist what to put on their creation.  No, but seriously those people at Subway annoy the c**p out of me!  If they don't want to make sandwiches they should find another job.

  14. because they normally dont pay attention. as long as they get the right ingrediants they wont get fired

  15. maybe you got to flirt a little to get thing your way words like hone and darling go a long way plus smile and wink !!!

  16. Just don't ask for any mayo or simply go to Quznos which has way better subs!!

  17. You need to be more specific!  Ask for 1 or 2 lines of mayo, what ever you prefer!  They are use to people wanting it to drip out the end!

  18. The formula for sauces is three swipes. If you want less  and get too much ask them to take some off. They might get pissy but they will do it. We do have formulas for veggies too, and when people ask for more sometimes its hard to close the sub or stuff falls out when you eat it and then come and complain when this happens.

Would you believe veggies on a 12" sub is 6. 6 pieces of green peppers, 6 pickles, 6 olives, 6 tomatoes, 6 cucumbers.

6 of everything and only 3 on a 6" sub.

Go figure if we stick to the formula and you don;t like it.

  19. Sorry I dont have that problem, I ask for extra extra extra mayo!

  20. Ok the answer is not as simple as laziness - but let me answer why.

If you are performing a simple, repetitive job, you are enjoying the consistency and flow. Anyone asking for something outside of the norm upsets this consistency. When the body is doing something repetitive, then the brain is in a partial shutdown. You mind is somewhere else. When the 'fussy' customer comes in then this flow is broken. Any small items are treated with contempt.

The problem is partly to do with control too. They are 'sandwich artists'. They know how a sandwich should be made. You are opting to be in their territory, and therefore you should accept what you are given. Their attitude is 'don't mess with me!'.

The other part of the problem may have something to do with laziness. If you are putting more product on subs, then you will have to do more prep work to replace the product.

I wouldn't let it bother you. And I would never ask for packet mayo to overcome the problem (heat treated - yuck). If your sub has too much mayo, ask them to make it over. They will quickly get the message that YOU are in control, not them. If the final product is not to your liking, take the whole sandwich back. If you get 'attitude' then go to the web site and start a complaint. Trust me, they don't like complaints coming down from the main office.

    Enjoy! ;-)

  21. Dont get mayo on the sandwich.  They have packets there where you are able to put on how much you want!

  22. idk either, I was there a week ago and he said "anything else?" and I replied by saying "yeah just a little bit of mayo" and what do u know. he still put alot but its ok, u cant always get what u want plus u can scrape it off. lol

  23. go to a real deli and ask for less mayo. oh and most people who work at a deli do not make more then minimum wage and they can pull up a better sandwich then subway. the smell of subway makes me want to puke.

  24. Ask them not to put mayo on - but give it to you separately.  I would write to the Subway headquarters if you have a problem with that store.

  25. well i sometimes have the same problem but i useualy ask for just one straight line up the middle of the sub and its good for me try asking them how many lines of mayo you want and see how it works

  26. They do the same thing to me!!!! Then they wanna be selfish with the other condiments.

  27. Because the mayo brings the sandwich's flavor . The sandwich doesn't taste well so they put all of mayo on it understand .

  28. the should put as much as you want or little as you want because thats what they are paid for. And if they talk back just tell them that you want to talk to his manager and  you get the sub free or the guy makes you a new one that is perfect for you. Put also be nice to make them actually do it better.

  29. Ask for mayo on the side then you can apply at your own interest.

  30. Nobodys perfect

  31. They get paid S****y and are most likely insulted by being called sandwich artist. I work at a plastics shop but I do not like being called a lego repair man.
