  1. They don't hit good with runners on base. Their pitchers are more likely to choke when runners get on base. They have an owner who comes down on them if they suck. They have fans who will kill them if they play bad. They play their home games in the greatest stadium since the Roman Colosseum. They play for the greatest team in the history of all sports.

    Basically, they SUCK UNDER PRESSURE!

  2. The biggest problem has been injury. Most injuries have been serious 60-day-DL kind of things, and most have been to the pitching staff.

Other teams that have had injuries of this caliber are out of contention (Braves, Indians). The Yankees are still fighting.

  3. stop whining yankee fans your team just sucks! and they well suck for a long time. cause next year they will have competition with the rays, the red sox, and the blue jays. and gene h, one thing that my cubs have is chemistry that your yankees have lacked for a long long time. that's why they haven't even advance from the first round. ha ha!

stop hating on my cubs cause they are better then the yankees.

  4. 70-62 would be leading the NL West. Why not apply for a transfer? Seligula's been itching to realign anyway, just to have something to muck about with.

sigh... I'm typically in favor of high standards, but Yankees fans push it past insanity. Nothing is good enough. If the 2009 Yanx went 161-1, they'd crab about losing that one game, or that Pettitte didn't have a no-hit season, or that (for what he's being paid; always a factor to cite) Posada should be throwing out ten of every ten attempted steals.

    The 2008 Yankees

    (a) are old, and it's showing;

    (b) have suffered some key injuries without sufficient backup; and

    (c) put too much hope on a couple of kid pitchers (Kennedy, Hughes) in March, and they didn't measure up this year. (It was a fair risk to take, but geez, people, sometimes you do everything right at the blackjack table and STILL lose; it does happen, even to the Yankees.)

A good team and strong roster could manage to compensate for one disaster factor, but all three? It is a bridge too far, fans.

The math says the Yanks still have a chance, but nothing else does. Write off 2008, take this one on the chin and PLEASE do it gracefully, look ahead to 2009 and the new sandbox. Lynch Cashman or Girardi (metaphorically!!!) if that will help. Wade your way through the five stages of grief and make ready to move on -- because, pretty soon, the math will no longer be the last pillar standing, and that, as is said, will be that.

  5. They overpaid on players that cannot get the job done. for example Alex Rodriguez. sorry A-Rod i love you but you suck this year..

and besides they now have the rays to contend with along with the Boston Red sox and even the blue jays.

    best offense right!

then who's leading the AL in home runs then

    the white sox

  6. i guess they don't take showers

  7. Sorry Love, but they don't suck.  They have good offense but lack pitching & did have many injuries this year but even after all this they still have a better record than 19 teams in the league & not too shabby for a team haters say suck

  8. They are living in the past with a team of washed up superstars.  Bobby Abreu can't do anything anymore. He's scared of the wall.  A-Rod is inconsistent.  Giambi is getting so old the mustache is already thinning.  Posada cant even play this year.  Johnny Damon can't do anything without a mullet and a full facial beard.  The starting pitchers can hardly qualify for the AAA all star game.  The bullpen is a mess.  Rivera and Jeter are the only two players on the Yanks who still can play.

  9. all money no chemistry.  Too hard to buy a winner,  the TEAM needs to work at it.

  10. So many problems have occurred to the Yanks this year, especially injuries.

  11. Well, they have a winning record. They are so good that when they win but don't take the division, people think they stink. Well, they don't stink as bad as some teams I could name. (Cough CCubsough)

  12. same reason why other teams stink sometimes.. its just a plain bad year for them, things haven't gone their way (injuries, starting pitching, offense lately) it happens, you suck it up and move on. Its not Girardi's fault or solely A-rod's fault. The whole team is not doing well in general. that's all

  13. well you  got it all wrong they don't stink they suck and why do they suck cause they cant handle things not going there way if they start losing a game its like o what the hike lets just give up the rest of the game i hope the mets go farther then they do

  14. EVERYONE KNOWS the yanks by far have the best offense in the league... The problem is they get 25 runs one game and 0 the next they're amazingly inconsistent on offense, lately they're bullpen ( top 5 in the league) has been inconsistent as to the lights out pen they had earlier in the year...

A-rod, though batting 312 and 28 Hr's was injured and is 1/10 with basesloaded, and has one game tying hit from the 7th inning on, and is horrible with runners in scoring position...

Damon was injured for a while, and he was their most concistent batter for the whole year (except for that like one month matsui was healthy)

The yanks heavy hitting Posada has been out almost the whole year and not coming back, and everyone knows Molina is horrible as a starter and OUT OF THIS WORLD as a backup defensively (obviosly) and offensively believe it or not... (Pudge isn't what he used to be)

Wang got injured and got replaced with red hot in minors rasner who was good for like 6 starts and got bombed the like 20 other ones... Joba got injured, and his replacement giese got injured (who is near lights out in starts)

So now the yankees are running to the hills for pitching, Iank Kennedy got shelled, Pavano hasn't had a mlb start since like 2 years... And ponson is coming back to reallity that he just has no control (on and off the field...)

So basically the yankees even with all their injuries STILL can outplay any team in the league with their offense if they only had what the rays had... incredibly timely hitting...

The Yankees.... they're breaking my heart =(
