the people and congress expect iraq to accomplish so very much in such a short period of time and yet we cant replace the world trade center in the same length of time and those workers are not being shot at and their progress undone by bombs? why do we not protest this lack of progress and cost over runs?

  1. Did you know that Saddam had electricity up and running in only 3 months after the first Gulf war? The bombing was much more extensive, too. We still haven't managed to get it going.

Iraqis know how to do everything it takes to get things going including fixing their own oil wells. They were doing as well as the best in the world before we bombed the c**p outta them. They also have the bucks to do it and should be given back the 50 Billion that is still frozen in New York banks since we are supposedly not at war against them.

The stinking UN should be demanding that we release their dough. Let them hire their OWN contractors and people to fix things!

I'd like to see one US city that could operate at all with 70% unemployment!

  2. It is the Iraqi government asking for the timeline.....in the news recently you must have missed it.

  3. The American congress doesn't honestly expect the people of Iraq to rebuild or even establish a safe, working and democratic nation...They have to make promises and time lines in order to appease a general public that has grown tired of the whole idea... I think it will end up the same way as it did in Afghanistan...the US will withdraw before they manage to stabilize the region and it will resort back to the same state it was in before the American's arrived (with that little extra hate towards America added in there)
