  1. it is to confirm the last carriage.as it passes through a station mainly country stations where electrification doesnt need to be used,the station master would watch the train pass his station and when the last carrige go passed him he then will transmit a message something like "tran no passed and complete ".then the driver will know his train is complete and passed.
