Why do the chinese swim team black out the speedo logo on their swimmers?

China had a swimsuit contract with another company for their national team and made the decision at the last moment to allow their swimmers to wear the LZR for the Olympics like many federations did. It's probably the compromise they made to be able to do it and not void the contract with their national team supplier.

Not completely sure, but maybe its because they don't want speedo to get some free advertising because there are other sponsors who pay to have their logo on the swimsuits like nike or adidas.
