Why do the council need so many vans?

When four council workers turn up at an old dears flat, why do they each need a van. Sometimes for one little job I have seen 6+ vans turn up each with 1 worker in.

Cost effective I think not.

  1. And people wonder where their council tax money goes lol.

Let alone the council bosses on huge salaries and benefit packages. If they didn't have a van each they would probably scream victimisation, why has he/she got 1 and I haven't?

If like in the old days when health and safety didn't matter cos they didn't mind working lol they wouldn't need to waste our money quite so much. Most councils used to have multi tasking tradesmen now they just get 4 people to do 1 mans work.

  2. not very cost effective but they get to race each other and also go for separate lunch breaks!

  3. They have to find new and innovative ways of p*ssing our council taxes up the wall, don't you know?

They probably employ people (on huge salaries with all their expenses paid) to do just that . . .

So much for them being "environmental" and fining old grannies for putting a ketchup bottle in the wrong recycle bin - the emissions of those 6 vans will do far more damage to the environment than old Mrs Jones' inadqeuate rubbish-sorting ever will  . . .

  4. Usually because they have no intention of doing much work, and the van serves as a place to hide and waste time. I think it's quite silly they could all get in just the one van, and they talk about doing your bit for the environment...
