If herbs and are not good for you and are not approved by FDA then why does on the back on some vitamins it always say that FDA have not tested or approve or say it is limited and not conclusive to the evidence of what it does. Yet, they prescribed medicine that have more side effects than any herb. Give me more insight or information on this. Thank you

  1. Its ALL about the money.  Pharmaceutical companies (Drug Companies) cannot patent herbs, vitamins and minerals etc.  If drug companies could make millions of dollars with natural products like they do with prescription medicines they would be telling us how safe and effective natural products really are.  But since they cannot make any money selling natural products they are doing their best to eliminate the competition; including funding HUGE propaganda campaigns against natural products that have been used safely by millions of people for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years.

  2. Herbs, if taken correctly, are awesome for you!  Doctors do receive kick backs as does the FDA.  Also, the one headache with herbs is that not all plants produce the same levels of properties all the time.  So, you are dealing with approximates when your doing herbal meds.  With man made meds, they are consistent every time.  Plus, we have now created new problems from the man made cures that require the use of synthetic meds.  Then there is the question.. Was any type of herbicide used around the plants, roots or soil?  So, if you do use anything outside of organic foods for your plants, you are digesting that miracle grow folks.  That can also change the plant.  True most of it is greed, but, a lot of doctors do not have the same training in herbs as they do in pharmaceutical remedies.  So, they go with what they know.  The funny part, they all agree to seeing a nutritionist now, I remember back in the day they were considered hooky pooky. LOL.

  3. They don't make money when U go the natural way with health food & herbs!!!

    MMmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,somet... to think about?

  4. yup there's not much sence to be made outta the whole thing- comes down to money. And comes down to if herbs where FDA approved- the doctors wouldn't be making as much money, and the doctors staff wouldn't have as many freebies of pens, kleneex, clips, and esp.ly all those free lunches. Geez- what would the profession come to? Actual medicine?! Yeah that'd be a shock.......take care

  5. Because they lose out on the kick-backs they get for prescribing drugs if you turn to herbs and natural therapies instead.

All drugs are derivatives of herbs, created in a lab and turned into poisons. Herbs in their natural state are not only more effective, but also perfectly safe. (providing you have an educated person recommending dosages.)

  6. Do they really say that health foods are not good?  I didn't know that.  I think maybe some people read too much into the statement you are referring to.  The problem is you have people who make some of these products who will make claims that cannot be backed up just so they will make money selling an herb or whatever.  Hmm doesnt that sound like what many people claim the pharmaceutical companies do????  As long as someone is selling something all they are interested in is money. It doesn't matter if it is natural or not, its usually some corporation producing the good.  The FDA is just making it clear that they have not tested or reviewed tests and approved the product, so dont blame us (the FDA) if it doesnt work...

  7. I don't say that.  No doctor or pharmaceutical company says that.  I don't have any love for the pharmaceutical industry, but you cannot deny the success of prescription drugs in the 20th century.

"health foods" and herbs are not subject to the same rigorous evaluation process as prescription drugs.  There is no requirement to prove they do what they claim, and no requirement to prove safety.  There is no guarantee of quality either.

What is said by the Alt Med crowd is anti-science, conspiracy theories from a delusional and paranoid group of people who haven't had to prove ANY of their outlandish claims, and yet feel they are the persecuted ones.  They remind me of the Christians who claim that atheists are running America.  Herbal products are a multi BILLION dollar  industry, so I laugh when they play the persecuted little guy card.

Herbs at least are at the plausible end of the Alt Med spectrum, and you should know that many pharmaceuticals are originally derived from plants.  ASA was originally derived from willow bark.  It is one of the safest, cheapest and most effective drugs ever developed.  Willow bark does not have the same effects at all.

Just because something is "natural" or "herbal" does not mean it is safe.   For example, Ma huang, a Chinese herbal product has led to many deaths from overdose.  It contains ephedra, from which the street drug Extasy is derived.

  8. No one says that they aren't good. Anyone with any real medical training will say that they aren't as effective as real medication. That's why people can buy herbs anywhere, but meds are regulated. They don't do much, so who cares if you take them?

The whole "pharmaceutical industries trying to keep people sick" conspiracy is as absurd as any other conspiracy theory. Yes, they're out to make a profit. But if herbs were effective enough to bother with, they would just take them under their capitalist wing and profit from that, too.

  9. Clearly the government is TRYING to make everyone sick.

I totally agree with the other answer. Doctors are just in it for the kickbacks. They work with sick people all the time so they spend literally thousands on tissues each year. So it is a huge saving when drug companies supply tissues to them. They will sell their souls for more tissues. It disgusts me.

Plus the doctors only take conventional medicine (they don't know very much about the human body) so they get sick more..... again, more tissues = drug companies.

On the other hand the poor little herbal industry is only worth an estimated $182 BILLION per year. Poor little guys. They are only trying to promote the REAL cures.

The government knows that keeping people sick saves them in the long run as sick people are cheaper than healthy ones. I hear hospitals are cheap to run. A bed only costs about $2000 per day. So really, its to their advantage if they keep the REAL herbal cures for themselves. Sick people aren't a drain on resources at all. Thats why they wont let alternative meds into hospitals, because they would be just too effective.

Plus the herbal CURES are cheaper for you, as the companies don't need to spend millions on pointless research. We all know science is overrated and only the UNEDUCATED people believe in it.

  10. Big DITTO to what spiritwise said. I had something very similar to that I was about to answer with when I read all the other answers first. I'm glad I read them first =) I think she hit the nail on the head!
