i have a 96 seadoo spx pwc (jetski). i put it in the water for the first time of the season last year. it was working great. i was riding and all of asudden it died. now, no lights on the dash come on and the gauge does not work when i try to start it. nothing clicks or anything. the battery has plenty of current. i can't find a fuse but i know there must be one. also, the gauges stopped shuttung off when the kill swithc was pressed. i had to unplug the oarnge plug in the engine compartment after riding it to shut off the gauges and keep the battery from dieing. can someone tell me if there is a common problem somehwere and where the fuse is? a correct fuse location would give you the best answer. also, there is no possibility of taking it to a technician or shop becasue my parents hate it and are happy it's broken. so i have to fix it by myself! any help would be greatly apreaciated!! thanks in advance!!

  1. Could be a variety of reasons causing this, however to correctly diagnosis the root problem, you need to buy the service manual for your PWC model and year.  Otherwise you will waste hours and days of uneducated testing.

Some of these specifics help you described, but I still having problems finding out what you exactly did to try to get it running.

Were you able to get the starter to turn the engine?

Did the power trim work after this happened?

    Possible things to test:

    Battery cables

Inspect Main electrical bus (The plastic box or main hub where all the power is distributed).

    ignition system short or problem

magneto system for generating electrical power for the PWC

The fuses or maybe it has a breaker bus should be somewhere nearby the main electrical bus.

If you've blown a fuse or tripped a breaker, its a good bet that your main ignition circuit controlling run/stop might be shorted somewhere.

  2. Hi!

A complete failure of the entire electrical system should really be an easy trace and fix. Contact your local dealer and ask the service department where the main fuse or fusible link is located.

    Good Luck!
