Why do the fans go crazy when Dale JR makes a pass for the lead?

Is this a question you really had to waste 5 points for? Dale Jr has over 70% of the fan base so theoretically that's 70% of the fans in the stands. You still with me so far? That means that when he makes a pass for the lead.....wait for it.....get ready for it.....70% of the fans in the stands go WILD!!!!

Understand the math? If not then you have bigger problems than worrying bout the fans going crazy when Dale Jr passes your favorite driver for the lead.

Because he's by far NASCAR's most popular driver, he probably has more fans than the rest of the other drivers combined.

Like Dale Jr or not he IS the most popular driver in Nascar and likely has more fans than any other single driver in the stands.

That is the reason why.

He's a fan favorite, people will holler and cheer any time their favorite is out front.

Every driver out there has fans. Every one of the fans yell when their favorite driver takes the lead. It's more noticeable the larger the fan base. Jr. has the largest fan base.

As for the same tired theory about Dale Sr.'s fans liking Jr. because he is his son, blah, blah, blah.......I will admit I took notice of Jr. BECAUSE of his dad. I gave him a second glance BECAUSE of his dad. But, I am not his fan BECAUSE of his dad. Jr. made me his fan all on his own. The same reason I like Jimmie, Bowyer, Truex, Burton, it's their attitudes and their laid back driving styles. I cheer for ALL of these guys when they take the lead!

If all the drivers had the same amount of fans as each other you would never notice Jr's fans doing that. So obviously You notice that because he just has more fans. People can say what they want about no personality or him getting his dads fans. He just has more fans, me included.

Ok you said not to bash and to answer honestly.  You said he has no personality and that's not true, I love Jr because of his personality.  He's so honest and  humble about himself, but yet when it comes to his driving abilities all modesty goes out the window, Jr the driver is one bad *** on the track.  

In all honesty you could ask this question about any celebrity, sports star or famous musician and unless they strike a cord with you you're not going to take the time to try to figure it out.

Everybody goes gaga over Kobe Bryant, I personally do not follow basketball so to me it's like what ever.  There's your Tiger Woods fans, Golf = boring to me but he's somebody's hero.  Now maybe to them Dale Jr= boring, but to me he's somebody special so I read everything I can get my grubby little hands on and  to me he's great!    So when he makes a pass for the lead I cheer my head off just like I cheer for Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, Jimmie Johnson and any of my other favorites and when the people I don't like take the lead I whine and wallow like the rest of you all.  

Jr is a fantastic driver and he's proving it this year with HMS. Please don't compare him, because if you want to compare numbers, he's 2nd in points, where is Tony? (No offence to Smoke's fans, just trying to prove a point)

And just for the record it has nothing to do with who his dad was, I personaly did not care for the Intimidators driving ethics.

Because he has the most loyal fans, they react to everything he does. Gets the lead, they cheer. He wins, the scream and cheer. He wrecks and you hear boos, and ah's. I don't hear any other drivers cheer when their driver gets the lead. Its always when they win.

shortnstoudt ~ Jr is 2nd Stewart is 12th. However who has more championships: Stewart 2 & Jr has 0. It's all in the numbers baby & championship numbers are a BIG part of what makes a driver better than another. Another EX: Jr has 2 more wins than Matt Kenseth. But Matt Kenseth has the past championship & even won Rookie of the Year over Jr. So, really what has Jr done? Not a lot.

Back to the orginial question: I am not a Jr fan. However, I believe it's because Jr does have more fans. I do know though, that half of his fans were his daddy's fans. So those whom will never admitt that they like Jr because of his last name(and you do know that they will never admitt they like him because of his daddy), don't really know why they do that.

I was at Daytona this past weekend & they ALL stood up & cheered when Jr would take the lead & stayed standing for like 15 laps afterwards. It was really crazy.

Us who were there & are fans of someone besides Jr had to stay standing just to see what was going on because the other people wouldn't sit down. And I can say that I was honestly glad that Jr didn't win last weekend. Everyone thinks of Daytona as "Jr's house" they seem to forget that there are 42 other drivers out there & say at least 15 are better than Jr.

It's not that I am a Jr hater, I am just not a Jr fan. I would like to see him win a race (on his own, with no help from NASCAR). But his "fans" do need to look at him realistically & logically. He's not the god that most of them make him out to be.
