Question:

Why do the last weeks of pregnancy seem so long?

I really like being pregnant. I love the way I feel, I love getting ready for the baby, I love feeling the movements....well I love the whole thing. However, toward the end, I wake up one morning and think, "I'm dying to have this baby already!" It seems like 4 weeks is FOREVER! All the girls I know have felt that way at the end too. Is there like a hormonal change that makes us so impatient or something? I have yet to meet the woman who is 38 weeks and not counting the days (and eating spicy food, taking long walks, having s*x, and doing serious consideration about caster oil.)

  1. yeah really..then watch when it finally hits and is over...we will all be like....that was it?  its done already?!  then were gonna miss being pregnant!

  2. HAHA YES i feel like I have been pregnant for 5 years!!!

I walk alot ... we tried to induce with s*x this morning .. (prob try again later tonight)

but of course castor oil is disgusting!!! (if you try it do it in a beer with lots of lemon) I am NOT concidering this ...

I think its because we are so anxious to see what our babies look like ... color of hair... color of eyes ... weight... length and most of all just get this whole motherhood thing started!!

I cant wait for the day when I can take my son to the playground/park or to the zoo ... :) ::sigh:: I dream of this all the time '

Hang in there ... we are at the finish line!! :)

  3. lol I'm not sure but I can totally relate.

I'm not sure if it's impatience so much as it is constant anxiety waiting for that moment when you go into labor not knowing what to expect.

Also, we get so much more uncomfortable near the end that we can't keep anything else on our minds for very long. All we can do is fantasize about that moment, and about what the baby looks like.

  4. I am 32 wks and 3 days right now and already thinking ahead to having the baby just because the preterm labor keeps kicking in and I just want it to be time already so I know my baby can be safely born.  My boys are getting more anxious than me lol they ask everyday if it is time yet.  I think the closer we get the more the hormones kick in and make us feel like time is just slowly moving by but then when the real time hits and the pain hits we want to reverse it lol.

  5. ohhhhh myy I cant wait either.. i am going on 38 weeks pregnant and that is all i tell anyone that i cant wait.. its soo uncomfortable to walk , and get up in general. i feel like a fat lady trying to hoist herself out of bed to get out. also I cant wait to be able to go to the grocery store without having to use the buggy. during my whole pregnancy i would need to use it because i would get soo faint and hot standing in those long grocery store lines i would always have to sit down. its going to be nice to not feel nauseous anymore.. LOL

cant wait to meet my little boy and take him out in his strolller for walks etc... and for his family to all meet him.

  6. I think it's just anxiety, knowing that the baby will be here very soon but not knowing exactly when. I can't stand it either, it's driving me insane to the point where I don't think I'll be willing to have another child after this. And I'm so freakin' moody that no one else can stand to be around me either! God I hope this will be over soon.

  7. im 38 weeks and 1 day, I feel like i am going to jump out of my skin!! I cant even imagine going over my due date but this is my first so i probably will. Its like your life is  paused and it wont continue until the baby is born . I feel I m just waiting.especially since Im not working and im so tired I cant really do much. Good Luck!

  8. Tell me about it, I'm due in 4 days and I think it's just the anticipation and waiting that makes it feel like forever.

  9. I'm 38 weeks and it has been the slowest month of my life... i can totally relate to you!!

  10. strangely, my wife is at the opposite.. for the 3 kids, the last weeks were the greatests... ok, she had sickness for like 6 months, so she was so happy to end that period, but then she start cravings in everything.. strange food (spicy and salty), physical activities, and s*x... she was waiting for so long that at the end she is active like h**l...

and the last days are even more active, because you are supposed to "nest".. preparing the arrival, checking every detail at the house, even if you know they are ok, you check again, clean the floor, make food a lot in case, etc...

  11. because you have been waiting with so much anticipation and when your almost to the end point everything seems to slow down but be patient because when you have your baby you will be really happy and the wait will be over and love the baby every second of your life b/c time wont slow down anymore it will fly by and soon they will be grown and leaving you so enjoy them while you can =]

  12. and the worst part is that chances are you might be 2 weeks late too!  This happened with my wife

  13. Lol. Great question. I don't know the answer to this, but I would love to find out. I know exactly what you are talking about. It just seems like the closer you get, the longer it feels. And then when the baby is born it seems like time flies...must be a woman thing.

  14. i dont know!! im 36 weeks and i want my baby out!!!!!

  15. Wow you are lucky to have had such a great pregnancy.  I am 37 weeks and I have been miserable the whole time.  Just one problem/pain/sickness after another.  I will never have another child.  I can't wait to give birth and get my body back....but I have felt that way since I got pregnant.  I guess some women are good at pregnancy, and some aren't.  I am definitely not good at it, and I have not enjoyed it.
