Why do the press use Jamie Lynn spears as a reason for high birth rate in teen girls?

This has been a problem even before she was pregnant. They say she is a bad role modle but she is human and makes mistakes just like the rest of us. I know my people who have had kids way before at young ages. They comment on her being happy during her pregnancy a bad thing. What is she surpose to do be upset. All I am saying is that we should not use her for teenage pregnancy increasing. She doesn't make other girls have s*x, they chose to do it, she didn't force them. Askinhg for opinions with really meaning either good or bad, but with a knowledge of this subject.

i agree, they are so judgmental of her she made a mistake but they act like its ment to be the end of her life. She is actually happy about this and they ruin it for her. Worst of all is that technically she shouldn't be a role model her TV character should  and her TV character is so pathetically good natured (from what i've seen).  She never pushed s*x in any ones face and what she does with her own time should be just that. I really feel sorry for her, people have taken her and crucified her.

Teen pregnancy has been around long before even our great great great grandparents were around.  It was just handled differently.  When my grandma was a teen if a teen got pregnant it was hidden.  The girl was sent away for "boarding school" where she would give birth and the baby put up for adoption or she would be forced into quiting school and marrying the father before the pregnancy was revealed.  Now more teens are obvious about the pregnancy and more are keeping their babies and not getting married to the fathers.

A whole bunch of grown man decided to fund and produce and release a movie about a teenager pregnant. The fact that it made it that far is horrifying.

I agree.

Since they are celebrities, people tend to look up to them. Jamie Lynn was extremely popular with younger girls and teens, so her getting pregnant was a big thing (at the time). Since younger girls like her, they may think that it's OK to have s*x and have babies.

Celebrities are people too, I think they should be left alone.

I don't think they're using it as the 'reason for increase' but more of an encouraging factor. There was already an issue, there's just alot of added positive light placed on teen pregnancy by her story.
