Why do the red sox players wear those rope necklaces?

yeah I have seen the Phiten site but I don't see any rope necklaces there. they don't look the same.

They are simply two phiten necklaces twisted together. i'm not sure if this is it, it could be a different brand but this looks right, except the red sox have white and red ones. http://www.phitenusa.com/accessories12.h...
