One time I was asked to a particular party. I overheard a lot of remarks indicating that some of the others who were going to it were excited that a certain person was going to be there. I did not recognize the name, but I gathered he must really be a likeable charcter and possibly the life of the party.
When I got there, it was really weird. For example, everybody was just sitting around in a circle on chairs. I do not recall if any music was even playing. Furthermore, the people looked so squeaky clean it was almost scary.
After what seemed like a brief period, someone who had decided to do some hash got out a hookah or water pipe and started passing it around. The guy beside me took a nice long drag from it and passed it on to me. I was quickly hit with the idea that I should be on my best behaviour, so I said in my best Puritanical voice, "No thanks." Not long after the pipe had made its rounds, someone grumbled that he was leaving because there were too many people there who were behaving themselves. How many people too many is one person too many, I would have to ask you. I do not recall anybody at the party who looked like a stereotypical drug user or even a possible one. The males were all very clean cut and nobody had an earthy look.
I later came to suspect that the guy who had passed the pipe on to me was a cop. Not only was he a cop, but he was a cop on the rise, and was rising quickly as well.
The point of my question is more in the nature of advice or comments. When you are at a party with a bunch of former Demolay on the rise, it helps to be on your best behaviour. The main thing I recall about this guy who seemed to closely resemble a cop I later got to know about was the memory of him passing his hash pipe over to me. The pipe actually looked very high tech and expensive as far as pipes are concerned, and boy did he smoke it like a pro! I notice that in displays that are used when police go around to educate people about drugs, the police always seem to have the top of the line in terms of equipment and paraphernalia. Do you think it is suspect?
