They advertise CiCi's, Red Lobster, Sonic, Red Robbin etc and we don't have any of those places around us in New Hampshire. Does anyone know why they waste their money trying to make us go to places that we can't get to unless we're willing to travel 500 miles?

  1. because they are national chains, and their goal is to entice to go to their place. simple as that... same thing with some of the restauraunts here in north idaho

  2. finally a good question, the business that makes the add just gives it to the cable company and they just put it were ever they can fit

    or

the commercial is broad casted far distences so if someone travels and go near near that place they know aqbout specials or what ever the advertisement was about

  3. In NH we are in the Boston advertising market. So if the restaurant or whatever is in the Boston area, we see the advertising.

  4. Thank YOU!!! Finally someone who speaks the truth god in Chicago they are like Taco Bell like 50 times god........ The nearest Taco Bell is like 25 miles im not gonna take no bus for taco bell!

  5. T.V channels tend to broadcast to large regions, not small areas and/or communities.

It would take a great deal of time, money, and research to seperate media between towns.

It is simply not worth the effort.

  6. Companies save money on advertisements by making commercials for larger regions. Since TV comes from a cable company, or satellite dish these days. Those commercials are most likely intended for all of New England.

In other countries this is even more common.  In South China people get commercials from the South Africa, Thailand, Australia, and Philippines

  7. they hope that the name will stay in your memory and if you happen to be around in future you would look them  up.

  8. Because you are watching shows on national television where the local station doesn't have the resources (including local advertising, option in contract, people on duty, or hardware) to replace the national ad with a local ad.

We use descriptive video on CBS and the local station has one or two ads in a group of 5-6 and these come in at much, much louder volume on SAP, or sometimes not at all, so national vs local is very distinctive.

And since the road distance tfrom Canaan, New Hampshire to Boston is only 130 road miles, which means almost every other town in New Hampshire is closer, all national restaurants like those named are much, much closer than 500 miles.
