I read this in "A Confederacy of Dunces." It brings up a good point about the best things parting. Why?

  1. Even god gets bored with perfection. Change is the universal constant. That which is perfect can only become less than perfect.

  2. Because men place too much value on the "sweetness" and not enough on the plant that created it. The plant has not died, and will live to produce again. But eventually even the plant must die. Your question is like asking why do our parents have to die? Why do we have to die? There is a time and a place for everything.

  3. All things must pass in due time. It may be that beauty has a large weight, and those with heaviest burden cannot bear to last very long.

  4. This happens because this is their course in life.  Not every flower stays alive for the same amount of time. However, they will all face their destiny and take that next step as strong as possible.  They may hold on as long as possible, but they know it is a fight they cannot win.  I think  mankind could learn a lot from this metaphor in many situations in their life.

The flowers fall because it is their destiny.  What is your destiny? And will you face it with your head held high... even if you know the future is not bright?

    Thanks for reading!
