Why do the vast majority of people hate curly hair?

I really don't get it. Everyone always sits there for hours straightening their hair. WHY dont people like it curly? Most people just prefer straight/wavy.

I have thick, curly hair and I think i truly do like it, but my mom (who has fine, straight hair) has basically brought me up thinking curly hair is horrendous and only looks good if its straight.

So now even though i often get compliments on my ringlets fairly often, im always self-conscious about it. When I have a daughter ill teach her to embrace her hair texture and love herself for who she is.

Cause when you wake up you have to do all this **** just to get your d**n hair to look good. Straight is just brush here, brush there, and out of the house. Curls always need all these things to keep it healthy when straight just needs shampoo or something.

Curls can look good, it just gets annoying sometimes.

The thicker the curls are, the more you have to take care of it.

I have naturally straight hair.. And I hate it! I wish I had curly hair! Straight is really boring, no volume, and looks the same everyday. My hair is really fine too, so it takes almost an hour to curl it or make it wavy!

I live in England and my hair is naturally curly, if i left it like that, then when it rained(it rains a lot I'm sure you know) My hair would be soooo huge, it wouldn't fit through doorways.

I'd love to have my hair curly, but it's more upkeep than having it straight!

I have curly hair and I love it! I can put it up in so many ways and even straighten it if I want. I think that most people don't like it because straight hair is easier to manage and most people don't want to have to deal with this big poof of hair. But there are tons of way that people with curly hair can style it without having to straighten.

I have curly hair and I love it!  Its so easy to style, and if I ever feel like changing it up, I can always straighten it!  Very versatile!

I think its just a style/trend thing. Remember the perms of the 80's.

I straighten my hair most of the time but I also wear it naturally wavy at others. But for the most part people follow the crowd.
