The "selfish" i mean George Steinbrenner has been giving away all his prospects to win NOW. He trades away prospects to acquire relics. He better win now because I dont see a bright future for the Yankees. Jeter and Arod are 34. Giambi is a dinosaur. Matsui is old enough to be a grandpa. Damon can barely run w/o getting injured. The only young one is Cano. His pitchers suck and are old. Cmon Steinbrenner THINK about about the future also instead of NOW. Your selfish acts are not getting you anwhere

  1. He is an agressive owner.  He wants his team to win, and I like that.  He is has young talent still: Joba, Cano, Cabrera, Kennedy, and others.  I know Kennedy did not have a good yr. this yr., he will have a bounce back yr.  You need to evaluate the Yanks better than that.

How old are you and how much are you worth.  Don't insult my team unless you know what u are talking about!

  2. umm Hank and George are 2 different people George wins now and Hank wants to restore the universe (lol) no Hank believes in prospects

  3. You're joking right?

  4. no one knows, he wastes money on old wash ups.. i mean once bobby abreau got to new york he has been an at best average player

  5. Not sure what move you're referring to.

  6. We've traded away very few prospects that actually have a future in the majors, and we've gotten a lot of quality players in return. He's trying to win for us now, because like Yankee haters love to say (over and over again), we haven't won in 8 years, and he's sick of it.

Not to mention, he isn't in charge of that anymore. He still has a lot of input, though.

  7. you obviously dont know the yankees. brian cashman has been rebuilding the yankees farm system for the past 3 years. do you see all the young pitching talent on this ballclub?

  8. First of all, George Steinbrenner isn't even running the show with the Yankees anymore. It's his sons Hank and Hal Steinbrenner who are making the moves along with GM Brian Cashman.

Second, it's not selfish. The Yankees see an opportunity to make a run at the playoffs. They're 4 games out going into the end of July, which is easily striking distance for a pennant chase. What, were the Yankees supposed to sit pat and hope that Chad Moeller and Jose Molina worked things out at the catcher spot? This move and getting Nady and Marte last week are great moves. I would have loved to keep Tabata, but at least they kept Phil Coke, who's supposed to be better than Tabata.

Third, why in the h**l would you get rid of Jeter or A-Rod? Jeter's about to be 34 and A-Rod just turned 33. Jeter more than deserves to stay with the Yankees and A-Rod is still in the prime of his career. Giambi's gone next year.

And what the h**l do you mean about the pitchers sucking? Do you not see Joba Chamberlain lately? Phil Hughes was hurt. And David Robertson and Edwar Ramirez have acquitted themselves quite nicely in the bullpen, thanks. Oh and Darrell Rasner isn't awful. So save all this garbage talk about how the Yankees are "sacrificing their future." It makes all the sense in the world to go for it when 1) a playoff spot is within reach and 2) you still have a decent farm system in place to begin with. Losing Farnsworth is nothing.

I'm glad the Yankees are stepping up and making a run for it. Besides, if any other team had done this and given up a similar player to Farnsworth for Pudge, you'd be talking about how great they made out.

It's not selfishness. It's seizing an opportunity when you see one. And for that, I say GO YANKEES!!

  9. The only decent prospect that was traded this year has been Jose Tabata for Marte and Nady (both of whom still have a good amount of career left). Jose Tabata has also been on the decline, and he has some behavior issues. All other prospects have been dealt with carefully. The good ones haven't been let go... they haven't even been considered in the running for being let go. The Yankees have made very, very good trades thus far this season. Their farm system is still completely in tact, and when those "dinosaurs" finally do retire, we'll have good prospects to replace them with. Please get your facts straight before you ask a question like this.

By the way, Georgie has not been the power behind the Yankees for almost two years now. It's all Hank, and Hal, and Cashman. George Steinbrenner is a figurehead. Too senile to do most else.

  10. because they are an old team.

  11. George is trying to do his bet to get a championship and i like that in a owner, the Yankees have a lot of good prospects  , but still with that in it you need young an veteran guys to make a good team successful

  12. The Yankees actually have some young pitching. Joba Chamberlain, Edwar Ramirez, Darrell Rasner and Jose Veras are the youngest and Joba is the best young pitcher they have. Injuries always happen on teams but the Yankees are in AL east contention so I don't think you know a lot about the Yankees.
