the manager of my theater told us that because the movie theater had to compete with the internet now they had to raise the prices. i don't get that? isn't competition supposed to lower prices? isn't raising the price of a ticket to 10+ dollars going to detract more people from going to the movies than its worth, anyways?

  1. considering our economy is slow right now because of the price of gas, I could understand that

  2. That's why if you just w8 till the movie comes out on DVD you buy it for the same price as one ticket and watch it more then once.

  3. The driving force behind theaters raising price is the per ticket price demanded by the studio and the distribution companies.  Movies are expensive to make and  the need for a profit is high.  Movie theaters make their money on the concessions not the admission prices.
