Why do these joints crack?

Okay, not to be gross, but the joint that conjoins my leg to my crotch cracks all the time. If I don't crack it, it feels like I can't move it out all the time. I don't force them to crack, they just do when I move.

I do cheerleading if that has anything to do with it.

My back always cracks too, if that means anything.

  1. I get this too. I'm a guy and I've never done cheerleading. Sometimes it feels tense and feels like its not comfortable until I crack it. It can be very annoying.

It's particularly annoying because I feel it restricts me at certain sports. E.g. sometimes I'll feel tense and have to stop and try and crack it to continue. Because of this I sometimes find doing sports such as martial arts difficult, where a lot of kicking and stretching in the form of the 'splits' is required.

I wish I could find out the source of the problem and know what to do to fix it. I've also had cracking problems with my knees when I bent them, which also used to lock sometimes which made it hard for me to play sports like soccer too, which requires a lot of hard kicking and running a lot. And I would have to sometimes stop on the field and bend my knee back to unlock it otherwise I couldn't run.
