Why do they always ask for my tel number ?

why is it that wen i call to pizza hut or papajohns or whereever

they always ask me first for my telephone number ???

i mean

why ??????

I think it's because they have your address on file - so they type in your phone number, and if you've ordered from them before, you address will come up. Saves time because they don't have to take down your address every time you call.

Also, local pizza places will sometimes call you if they can't find your house when trying to deliver, or it there's a massive delay on your order for some reason.

Thank You for asking this question! It's something I need to do more often. Where I work everything is done through the computer. So when customers call their name, address & phone number come up automatically. I'm from a small town so we don't have too many problems, but we are also the only pizza place in town. So I can understand why they ask you for your number, it's to verify that it's you calling and not some prankster. Which we have had as well. I've been working in the Pizza business for 14 years and never thought of doing this. Again Thank-You!!

They ask you for your number to clarify that it's your order and not someone trying to get your order.  Also this way if you never show up to get your pizza or the pizza gets delayed they can call you.
