Why do they call Carlton FC the 'blue baggers'?

back in the last century, on wash day the last rinse for all white clothing and linen was with a nugget of blue dye in a little cotton bag. the actual color was close to that of the Carlton jumper in the 1960s and 70s, it was lighter than it is today - my mum used to call it "junior navy'.

so Carlton's guernseys looked as though they had been blue bagged.

In fact it's a corruption of "Blue Buggers". Or is it "Blue Beggars"? I'll second the next person's solution. I'm old enough to remember blue bags in the wash.

we are the blue's and we 'bag' lots of wins.  I actually don't know.
