When it's the king of clams? Where did this name come from and why?

  1. Geoducks are a variety of long-necked clams native to the pacific northwest.

    They are the king of clams because they are positivly massive... they can be cooked and eaten just like regular clams.  Even though it is spelled Geoduck, it is pronounced "gooeyduck"   I spent several years living in the lovley pacific northwest states of Washington and Oregon... and I've done some beachwalking and dockwalking..   I'm not sure where the name comes from, but I have seen and eaten these strange looking, delicious creatures.
